Chess Books - Endgame
Improve Your Endgame Play
In this ideal book for players wishing to improve their endgame play, Grandmaster Glenn Flear explains the fundamental principles that must be mastered. Taking examples from his own games and those of other players, he shows how drawn positions can be converted into victories and lost positions saved at the last moment. It explains the important principles of every type of ending, provides an easy step-by-step guide to better endgame play, a revolutionary layout to help readers absorb the key ideas and includes a variety of test positions to enable readers to gauge their progress.
Easy Endgame Strategies
If you want to get a simple handle on how to checkmate effectively then this "fast food" book will get you there quickly with a minimum of fuss. Lots of board diagrams and plain English explanations make it easier to follow straight from the book than more advanced books which assume you can hold in your head multiple moves with fewer board diagrams. Even better place the piece moves from Robertie's book using the Chessmaster program and follow every single move.
Overall, it is of great value for the beginner to intermediate player.
Winning Chess Endings
Well Yaz gets around to the important endgame phase of chess which is so important. Yaz presents a nice work on the endgame which enables the reader to have an understanding of this phase of chess. It prepares the reader for more advanced works on the endgame (all of Yaz's books accomplish this feat). One needs to really give this book the going over since the concepts here are very important. A strong International Master was quoated as saying 'Studying the endgame in chess is like cheating!' after reading this endgame book which was followed by some other more specialized (advanced) works I could not agree more!
